Literally the most hilarious thing I’ve read all week. Honestly I wonder if anyone who was involved in this article actually believes that.

It just reads like more placation of the angry masses. “no need to burn things down, we promise he will be gone soon, no protesting necessary either”

Myself after being born into white trash in Texas, never having love for this country, having to stave off poverty for two decades during my lifetime, having taught myself code as my peers resigned themselves to manual labor, and having no options to emigrate out because I have no ties to any origin countries that make up my genetics.

I wish I could be a Canadian. I’d be friendly, helpful, and pay my taxes on time. I’m going to die impoverished in the “land of opportunity”.

I was did/heartened when I heard psychologists speaking out about how much more difficult their jobs have gotten since so many of the stresses people have been dealing with have moved to externalities rather than internalities. It is REALLY hard to help someone cope in the usual ways because the problems are real, we our lives and livelihoods are under existential threat, and we are relatively powerless in the face of it all. No amount of affirmations are going to make any of that better.

Ooh how many times have you heard that it’s somehow your fault for not doing enough to get anyone else elected, your fault for not having a degree, your fault for not seeing this coming 10 years ago and making plans then, or your fault for being a dirty American who is American and therefore deserves all the bad things happening?

I’ve gotten all these, and more.

My personal favorite was being told in the same conversation by two different Canadians, that I should move to Canada, AND that Canada doesn’t need some “backwards ass hillbilly trash who wants to fuck his guns as much as his sister” because I mentioned I have family, no college education, and firearms.

Personally I’d prefer to move to an EU country, but if the US ever really did want to invade Canada, I’d want to be there to help defend Canada. You know, with my guns. I’ve inherited quite a few, have training to use them, and am absolutely willing to train minorities on their use to defend against fascist racist phobic pieces of human refuse.

So basically for one reason or another, country on the planet seems to want someone like me.

Instead we get to sit here, in this shit hole country. Grasping at anything to try and help pull it back from the massive sinkhole it’s slipping into. Hoping that enough people help us to make a difference.

            I don’t think there’s a relevant peanuts panel for this…

The only way that remotely happens is if the dems take congress in 2026 and impeach and remove him (they’d probably have to get vance too). Which seems highly unlikely and has a high risk of another jan 6 like event.

I’d like to believe it, really, but there is no way that he ever sees justice for his crimes. He’ll die of a cheeseburger-related heart attack before that happens.

I find it odd that anyone thinks there’s going to be (fair) elections. The Democrats (or any party other than MAGA Republicans) are never going to be in power again, ever.

Too any rich and powerful people will end up in prison if that happened, and right now they’re the ones writing (and rewriting) the rules and breaking the things they can’t control.

It’s going on in front of everyone’s eyes and the consequences are just being ignored by most. It’s mindboggling.

I know a lot of people have been saying this, but we’ve seen some nice surprise Democrat election victories lately, mostly on smaller local elections for State judges/senators. There was also the recent attempt to overturn Justine Riggs election, which saw huge public outcry and failed.

It is reason to be optimistic, and the GOP has certainly had awareness of the importance of all those small local seats for a long time. So even if we presume they have some horrible, secret, nefarious way of manipulating results, I don’t think they can do that on enormous scales, or for every election.

Be cautious, but you don’t have to be pessimistic.

I would be fucking SHOOK if the Dems actually did that in '26 instead of settling for wheeling Schumer out to waggle his finger at Trump. I honestly think the only reason they’re attempting impeachment now is that they know it has virtually zero chance to go anywhere, so it’s just politically useful theater.

I doubt Jan 6 would be allowed to happen again. 1. The police and military would be ready and waiting. 2. The rest of us will be ready and waiting.

I hope you’d be right in that case. If an impeachment of Trump got to a senate vote that was expected to pass (removing him from office), I just don’t see him going quietly. Especially considering he would still be in control of the military and well loved by the cops.

I doubt that would come to pass though. The likelihood of the democrats getting enough votes to impeach and remove in 2026 seems far fetched. Especially since the current republican controlled congress is actively trying to pass voter suppression laws. Not to mention democratic voters don’t turn out for midterms like they do for presidential elections. Maybe that changes, but from here it seems improbable.

Loved by cops, maybe, in places that aren’t major non-FL/TX cities. In control of the military, not so much. The general sentiment of most service members I come across is “our oath says ‘foreign AND DOMESTIC’ and requires I follow lawful orders.” They recognize that ordering the military to suppress protests with force or not upholding an impeachment order by Congress is not lawful. Also, once the vote is in, if he is impeached in the Senate he is no longer president and thus no order he gives is lawful, no matter what it is.

There was a moment when Trump wrote that Walmart must “eat tariffs” that I thought "oh we’re getting close now. Of course I don’t want the actual reign of terror that followed the French revolution, but I also wouldn’t feel bad if a few examples were made.

What could possibly make you think aiming a gun at the sitting president and pulling the trigger doesn’t count as an assassination attempt? Or are you simply shrugging that off because it doesn’t fit your narrative?

It was a setup for him to get publicity. His “wound” was gone the next day, and there’s no way the secret service would have let him get back up and stand there for his photo op. There’s a bunch of other inconsistencies too.
