Summary

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) claims that Trump’s executive orders pausing congressionally appropriated funds may violate the Impoundment Control Act (ICA) of 1974 and his constitutional duty to enforce laws.

Trump’s directives, including withholding foreign aid and federal funds for sanctuary cities, bypass Congress’s statutory authority, potentially setting a dangerous precedent.

CREW urges Congress to investigate these actions, arguing they undermine the separation of powers and the principle of checks and balances essential to democracy.

We learned the first trump term that American democracy does not work if the ones we elect decide not to play the game. At least when enough of them decide to.

Right, but it doesn’t matter. The Supreme Court gave him carte blanche to do whatever the hell he wants.

His first presidency was to test the waters and see what he can get away with. His second is to do whatever the fuck he wants after he found out he can do whatever he wants. It’s not like he has any reason to stop.
