Funniest outcome: the Supreme Court rules that he’s good to run for a third term, so the Democrats decide to run Obama (probably their best chance short of actually trying to help people) but the Supreme Court says “no you’ve served two terms already”.

SC says that its okay to run for a third term but adds a statute of limitations that says in inappropriate to wait too long between terms to run.

Brazil is kinda like that. Can serve any number of terms, but only two consecutives. Kinda meh, but we would be stuck with Bolsonaro if Lula couldn’t run again.

If he won or lost, I still think the funniest thing would have been for Biden to die on inauguration day

People were wringing hands and clutching pearls about Trump destroying democracy and here he is actively talking about the next election.

Gets re-elected in a landslide and then immediately dies before the inauguration begins as 70 years of Big Macs finally tips the scales of his Dorian Gray/Fall of the House of Usher dark compact that has allowed him to live for so long and his heart explodes

  • Democracy is when there’s elections apparently

Don’t you love the people who talk about how the Mexican Party of Morena is “evil and corrupt” for winning two elections in a row 🤣

I remember how they were going on and saying that “it’s good Mexico has a no re election rule”

    Like bruh

I don’t know what to say people

There really is no way without blatantly disregarding the constitution. It would lead to the collapse of the United States.

The US has blatantly disregarded the constitution loads of times. To pretend that breaking it now would necessarily lead to collapse is a bit weird.

Letting someone run for additional terms isn’t exactly ending democracy. If anything, stopping people from voting for their preferred candidate because they’ve already been president is less democratic than allowing additional terms.

There is. The Constitution isn’t clear on how the 22nd (anyone who has served two terms is ineligible to be elected president) and the 12th (anyone ineligible to be president is ineligible to be Vice President) interact. Notice the difference in wording, the 22nd is specifically about being elected president, not being president.

So theoretically he could be elected as VP and have his running mate resign to give him the presidency again. The only thing that would really stop that is a Supreme Court ruling, but the Supreme Court is mostly Trump appointees.

Or of course he could take a page from his buddy Bukele and have the Supreme Court say “nah you’re good to be elected again” despite the Constitution clearly saying otherwise.

I don’t even think the resign part is necessary for the right to continue business as usual.

If everybody work together we can end America before that, just put some effort to it.
