Elmina plane crash: At least 10 dead, including road users, say cops
- A light aircraft has crashed near the Elmina township in Shah Alam.
- It is believed that several people, including a motorcyclist, were killed in the crash.
- The plane is believed to be a Beechcraft Premier I, a light business jet aircraft, which was on its way from Langkawi to the Subang airport when it crashed outside the township.

- "The first contact made by the aircraft with Subang Air Traffic Control Tower was at 2.47pm and landing clearance was given at 2.48pm at 2.51pm, the Subang Air Traffic Control Tower observed smoke originating from the crash site but no mayday call was made by the aircraft,’ he said in a statement.

Bodies of Elmina air crash victims taken to HTAR
- The bodies of the 10 people killed in the plane crash on the Guthrie Highway in Shah Alam yesterday have been taken to the Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR) Forensic Department here.
- Family members of the victims who gathered at the hospital were only allowed to wait on the road leading to the Forensic Department unit and could not watch the bodies being unloaded from the vehicles.
- It is learnt that the post-mortems would begin at 8am.
Elmina air crash: Victims’ next-of-kin gather at South Klang district IPD
- A sombre atmosphere pervaded the South Klang district police headquarters (IPD) late last night as the next-of-kin of victims of the Beechcraft 390 (Premier 1) plane crash in Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam gathered at its compound.
- The South Klang District IPD is the location for the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test process on the victims’ next-of-kin to identify the 10 individuals who were killed in the incident
- The wife of Pahang state executive council member Datuk Seri Johari Harun, Datin Seri Maziah Samsudin was among those seen arriving with family members before being escorted to a room at the IPD Criminal Investigation Department to perform the procedure.
- It is learnt that as of 12 midnight, only one victim’s next-of kin has not turned up for the procedure.
Elmina crash: IGP says search operation at location 95pc completed
- The search operation at the location of the plane crash on the Guthrie Highway near Elmina Town here yesterday is 95 per cent completed.
- “We have found 15 human remains of 10 bodies and recovered, from these human remains, about 21 personal items like watches, money and bags,” he told a press conference at the scene of the crash today.
- “To clear the road, we have the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (BSKU) Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) from PDRM, as well as the assistance from the Fire and Rescue Department, the Civil Defence Force and the General Operations Force,” he said.
- When asked about the plane’s black box, Razarudin confirmed that a cockpit voice recording was found at about 10 pm yesterday and would be analysed by BSKU.
- Meanwhile, he said following an investigation, it was found that the driver of the car involved in the tragedy had cancelled a booking by a customer a 2pm, which is before the incident.
- “The car driver ‘rejected’ the passenger at 2pm. We suspect the driver is alone, but we will know whether there were others after the DNA test,”
Elmina air crash: Processing of victims’ remains in progress
- The management of the bodies of the victims is now being carried out to enable the next of kin to claim the remains by the respective family members.
- Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the process involving the identification of DNA tests from the human remains is expected to be completed as early as Monday and a total of 22 relatives have provided DNA samples to match.
- Anwar expressed the government’s readiness to provide the assistance needed by the victims’ families to ease the their burden, especially those who do not have permanent employment.
- Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) of the ill-fated plane had been sent to the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) early this morning for analysis.
- Former Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) chairman Datuk Seri Azharuddin Abdul Rahman in an interview on Bernama Radio said the CVR investigation is expected to take a week if there is no internal damage to the aircraft’s black box.
- Exits and entrances to the Elmina Interchange in both directions of GCE which were closed following the crash yesterday, have been reopened to highway users since 3.40pm.
- However, one of the two lanes of the road from Elmina West to Rawang is still closed for the authorities to carry out investigations at the scene.
Cops say American aviation experts to assist locals with Elmina crash investigations
- A group of American aviation experts are reportedly here to assist local authorities in its investigations into Thursday’s private jet crash that killed 10 people including everyone on board the plane, the police said.
- “They are expected to examine the wreckage, which is by the road shoulder along Persiaran Elmina on Monday. Until then we will station personnel at the scene to conduct 24-hour surveillance to ensure it remains undisturbed,” he told The Star.
Elmina plane crash: Initial report to be prepared in 30 days, witnesses urged to come forward, says Transport Ministry
- According to the Ministry of Transport (MoT), the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (BSKU) team has initiated a technical investigation based on Annex 13 ― Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation, International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO Annex 13).
- “The main purpose of the investigation is to determine the cause of the accident in order to save lives and prevent similar incidents in the future,” the ministry said in a statement today. MoT said it is not the purpose of the investigation to apportion blame or liability.
- As such, the ministry urged members of the public or any party with relevant video recordings or photographs of the incident to come forward and submit them to the BSKU to help in the investigation.

- Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said police were investigating the case as sudden death.
- “However, for the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (BSKU), the investigation of the incident will be carried out from the aspect of the crash.
Elmina air crash: Wait is over for family members, all remains identified, laid to rest
- Three days after the incident that shocked the nation occurred, the identification process and DNA tests were completed one day earlier than the initial estimation.
- According to Selangor Police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan a total of 300 samples of body parts were sent to the Chemistry Department for DNA matching involving 30 pathologists and forensic officers.
- He also confirmed that there were no other victims involved in the crash.
- The victims were identified as the pilot Shahrul Kamal Roslan, 41, and co-pilot Heikal Aras Abdul Azim, 45 as well as the six passengers namely Datuk Seri Johari Harun, 53, who was the Pahang Local Government, Housing, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman, Muhammad Taufik Mohd Zaki, 37, Khairil Azwan Jamaludin, 43, Shaharul Amir Omar, 49, Mohammad Naim Fawwas Mohamed Muaidi, 35, and Idris Abdul Talib @ Ramali, 41.
- Two road users who were passing the area including Muhammad Hafiz and Sharipudin Shaari, 51, an e-hailing driver were also killed.
Elmina air crash: Anthony Loke says cockpit voice recorder sent to Singapore for analysis
- He said the Malaysian Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) faced difficulties in retrieving data from the charred CVR, whose memory puck was still intact.
- “Since we do not have the equipment to retrieve the data, the memory puck was sent to Singapore yesterday,” he said, adding that the Transport Safety Investigation Bureau Singapore would help to retrieve the data.
- “We do not know how long (it would take) but we are doing our best to get the recording. We will make an announcement once it is available. We want to do it fast but there are technical issues to overcome,” he said, adding that AAIB head Tan Chee Kee has gone to Singapore to get the data.
- Loke said a report on the preliminary investigation into the crash, prepared by AAIB with the help of the United States National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), would be released within a month.
- “NTSB representatives were asked to assist in the probe because the aircraft was registered in the US,” he said.
Police: 10 US aviation experts at Elmina air crash site to search for clues
- Shah Alam district police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said they are expected to be in the country for a period of seven to 10 days to help in the plane crash investigation.
Elmina air crash: Op to remove wreckage, debris of aircraft completed, say police
- Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the crash site will be cleared tonight.
- When contacted by Bernama, he said all police controls at the site will also be ceased.
- In addition, the road involved will be cleared but the route still remains closed, while police have removed the yellow tape installed at the location.
Anthony Loke: Voice recorder from Elmina private jet air crash will be sent to Florida for analysis
- “We’ve decided to send the CVR to a lab in Florida which is the lab of the manufacturer of the CVR so they can attempt to extract the information from it.
- “Our team in Singapore told us they’re unable to retrieve the voice recordings hence to not waste time we’re sending it there for a faster response,” Loke said during a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.
- “For now the memory card in the CVR is intact though the entire unit is badly damaged,” he added.
