Looking for trans people in the bushes with a magnifying glass.

I posted about this in the mega, but yeah the fencing community is actually super welcoming to trans athletes and most lower level competitions are coed because sex differences are so minor in the sport. In fact, this transphobe very recently competed in a mixed competition where she went against men! She didn’t seem to have any problem with it then.

Also, getting all the way on to the piste before refusing to bout is such a pathetic move. Absolutely deserved the black card.

Grifters gonna grift. My guess is she decided she wasn’t ever going to be able to make a living as a fencer, and her other career prospects aren’t looking great. So she decides to make a buck by becoming a right wing commenter/grifter. She happened to be paired against a trans woman in a competition and saw it as her chance to make a buck and launch an influencer career.

Yeah, she was in her 30s which isn’t too old to enjoy this wonderful sport of physical chess, but definitely too old to be an Olympic superstar.

geordi-no Splitting fencers up by gender

geordi-yes Splitting fencers up by height and arm reach length

Granted I’ve never paid too much attention to professional fencing so I have no idea if those factors are as dominant there as they were in the amateur stuff I did a while back

Even reach is only part of the equation. Tall dudes have more surface area you can poke, while fencing a tiny woman can be like trying to swat a fly.

I remember fencing a short woman. What was normally a shot to someone’s heart was my stabbing her mask. Not a legal shot in foil fencing, to be sure.

I did a lot of apologizing whenever we matched up.

I found the tournament results, I’m not going to put her on blast but it’s fair to say the trans athlete did not have some sort of advantage.

Yeah. Middle of the road, lost fair and square to several cis women who weren’t whiny transphobes.

Trans women actually do have one distinct advantage though - we can shoot lasers out of the sword if we swing it while at full health. So in order to compete fairly we actually willingly take half a heart of damage beforehand.

Your eyes are fine… Your brain is still trying to figure out if they can shoot lazers from their eyes or if it is a joke.
