A Japanese politician says she received more than 8,000 death threats after proposing free sanitary pads in public toilets. Ayaka Yoshida, a 27-year-old member of the Japanese Communist Party, posted on X on 25 March that she had "suddenly got my period today and it was a problem". "I want sanitary napkins to be available everywhere, like toilet paper."
so it’s one person being a scumbag
This is unconscionable and should be dealt with severely. Not to downplay it at all but calling it 8,000 death threats is misleading.
It was probably some idiot running scripts on their laptop. I expect email systems detect this activity easily and block it, but I guess not.
Mail servers will sometimes drop excessive mail if it comes too fast But an upper limit per address would be novel, and I’m not sure what sort of limits one would put there.
