It’s a lamp, made out of a big glass vase and some LEDs, and the inside is a burned out resistive load that helped dissipate the excess energy from an old automated welding station. Basically, a big heatsink with a bunch of huge resistors. Just meant to dump a ton of energy out as heat for a few seconds at a time. I don’t have any better pics of it, I’m afraid.
Just do what I do. DVI to HDMI to an HDMI audio extractor to DVI.
