A Southern California police department has been handcuffed by Lego. The Danish toy company asked the agency to stop adding Lego heads to cover the faces of suspects in the photos it publishes on social media.
Yeah, as a non-american, from all the media exposure i thought you have to be sentenced and mugshot mean you’re on the way to your jail cell. Then Donald Trump mugshot released and i thought that clown is finally heading to jail, but later found out the trial haven’t even begin. Its super messed up.
Because it means there’s a public record of people detained by police, makes it harder to disappear people.
There’s a serious consequence of people assuming arrested=guilty, and regardless of the result, your life can be ruined. But there’s still a way to keep the public informed about who the cops locked up.
Mugshots have always been weird to me. You havent been convicted of anything, why should your face be broadcast to everyone?

They could just disappear someone and not put it in the record?
I didn’t see how that prevents disappearing. If they want you gone they just won’t take a mugshot.
It’s not just arrested=guilty, but accused=guilty
This is why mugshots or other pictures of people not yet convicted should not be published
