I’ve played it before, it’s super edgy but in such an over the top way that it’s funny. Only “ironic” visual novel I’ve ever enjoyed. CW for basically everything though.
I think whether it lands depends on whether you were in an American high school in the late 00s/early 10s, there are some deep cuts. There’s a moment where they go to FYE and my brain just melted for a minute
I got my brother arrested for pedophilia, every man had an incredible amount of red flags, got suspended for drugs, tried to be nice and ended up attempting suicide and getting a depressing monologue about medication and psychiatric practices.
My initial thought was no, but after going through all the endings, I realized almost all of them happened or came close to happening. We almost had a shooting or two, the basketball coach tried to cover up his star player making revenge porn, one teacher said the N word repeatedly, a few kids dropped out due to addiction, one got sent to boarding school, a few kids got bullied out, and a large portion of the student body attempted suicide at one point or another. This game just lets you be the central victim of all of those events with rapid pacing.
I bought deep rock galactic and have lost an average of three hours of sleep per night. I also bought class of '09 and I’m excited to try that.
