Am I being too optimistic in seeing this as an opportunity? Surely even MAGA-women object to someone being called a whore just because she’s successful? Surely even MAGA-women have limits to being treated as second class citizens? Surely even MAGA-women can connect that with old white men controlling their reproductive process and see the slippery slope they’re already flying down?

Never let yourself become convinced that conservatives will vote in their best interest. They aren’t voting based on some logical paradigm, some set of criteria–they are voting on their emotions and their emotions are based on symbols. It’s why the people who claim to be so proud of their Constitution know absolutely nothing about it.

The other replies are much more reactive, which I totally get given the discourse. I’d recommend a book called “Right Wing Women” by Dworkin to further explore this idea.

These MAGA women are likely trapped in their own belief, because their sense of self comes from the man that constantly dehumanizes them. If you escape, you are left with nothing (since that’s what you have been indoctrinated to believe in). The only “out” is to be a good trad girl, and hope that the men praise you – this is the only possible source of self-worth.

Not saying that this excuses their behaviour, but I hope this provides an additional layer of complexity rather than “MAGA women bad”.

The choice of Kamala might be brilliant. The Republicans have already been showing their ass over abortion rights, and now that they’ve gotten used to saying the quiet part out loud their blatant misogyny towards Kamala will make it harder for them to sell “it won’t get any worse.”
