The Israeli army on Wednesday accused six Al Jazeera journalists covering the war in Gaza of also being current or former paid fighters for Palestinian militant groups. Al Jazeera rejected the claims.

Israel cited documents it purportedly found in Gaza, and other intelligence it gathered, in making the accusations against the journalists, all of whom are Palestinian men. It said four are or have been affiliated with Hamas, and two with Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

Al Jazeera said the accusations were “fabricated” and “part of a wider pattern of hostility” toward the pan-Arab network. It said the claims were “a blatant attempt to silence the few remaining journalists in the region, thereby obscuring the harsh realities of the war from audiences worldwide.”

The Associated Press has been unable to independently verify the authenticity of the documents Israel posted online to support its claims.

Amazing how everyone Israel doesn’t like suddenly become terrorists.

The Committee to Protect Journalists released a statement on Wednesday that was critical of Israel, which it said “has repeatedly made similar unproven claims without producing credible evidence.”

In July, after an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City killed two Al Jazeera journalists, including Ismail Al Ghoul, Israel “produced a similar document, which contained contradictory information, showing that Al Ghoul, born in 1997, received a Hamas military ranking in 2007 – when he would have been 10 years old,” the committee said in its statement.

Not sure what’s your point. Both Israel’s government and Al Jazeera can be evil. It’s not a zero-sum game.

you forgot the part where Al Jazeera is Qatar based organization with clear propaganda agenda. Do you trust Russia Today as well? I wouldn’t trust any organization based in Qatar knowing their track record of human rights abuses.

it’s an untrustworhy news organization that at the very least fails to do an appropriate amount of background check and at most supports and promotes terrorism. Also it’s based in Qatar. Let that fucking sink in for a second.

So your bias is the reason you dislike their bias and you somehow think that makes it ok to paint them as terrorists and murder them? The actual fuck is wrong with you?

Yes, just because they do something right does not dismiss the low level premise that they are a state sponsored propaganda machine. Qatar has no laws to protect press from the government. There’s zero press freedom and Al Jazeera will do everything Qatar tells them to and can’t even talk about it. Isn’t that crazy?

This premise makes everything Al Jazeera does untrustworthy and needs to be verified by more trust worthy institutions.

I don’t get it how is it so hard to understand that? That’s the most basic of concepts and the irony that people defend this on a decentralized network is just incredibly poetic if not sad.
