I think tankies say some pretty stupid shit too, but you shouldn’t doxx people. I think the link to their presumed employer is a step too far.

Also, being a “well-paid software engineer” and a Marxist is only contradictory if you don’t understand what Marxism is. Unless you are a part of the bourgeoisie (being well-paid is not the same thing), being a Marxist is a perfectly reasonable position to have.

The real problem is that many of the “”“Marxists”“” on this site seem to be more interested in American Diabolism and doing apologia for a different set of genocides (the few that America opposes).

Regardless, it’s bad to doxx people.

thank you for calling them out

Though I am curious about your thoughts on Marxism as every theory has many takes and interpretations. I’m of the opinion that simply having exuberant wealth is still exploitation, no matter how righteous you try to be with it.

Lemmy doesn’t have protection no, but most routers and ISPs do.

Regardless I’m deleting all mentions of this topic. Personal information and doxxing is not allowed at all, you will be perma’d if you try it

Wait. What happened here? Did they use Lemmy available system info to effectively doxx someone? That needs to be communicated. I’m aware no where in the internet is private but if it’s a vector a chatter can quickly spool up that needs to be discussed (elsewhere, just seeking confirmation from you here)

(I can take this to DMs with you if you like)

Hey I didn’t dox someone getting a public IP just gives a vague area. I didn’t know the info provided by the other user was not publicly available.

Lemmy doesn’t have protection no, but most routers and do.

Actually not that much, they communicate with a IP towards the outside and you can get that public IP, wich gives a vague area (as in next bigger city usually) and no, most routers don’t have something like a killswitch that presents them from spilling the Private IP, that’s one reason VPNs exist.

And the link was just a example of how it can look, If I wanted people to click on it I wouldn’t have said “it will track you”
