I had to go pee at like noon, didn’t end up going until 4pm because I went down a coding rabbit hole.
My wife came in at 6pm and asked if I had eaten yet today…I said I didn’t know.
This isn’t healthy. I do not condone it.
I have the opposite problem. I think about food nearly all the time. It’s what got me up to 295 lbs.
I’m down to 260 today. Still got a long way to go, but I’m getting there. Getting medicated makes me feel so much more in control of my impulses. One of them being the impulse to eat all the time. Now, I don’t feel hungry nearly as often, and if I think about food, I consider whether I feel hungry, and if I don’t, I don’t eat.
Way to go! That’s no small feat! You should be proud of your progress.
Thank you! :)
My doctor even asked what my secret was. I said I cut down on the boredom eating. Now I just boredom “tend to shit around the house.” Seriously, I might clean or cut the lawn wrench on the cars to kill time. It feels good to get moving again.
I’ve lost ~15 lbs myself by cutting out snacking and eating more lean protein like chicken.
That is fantastic to hear. Keep loving yourself through the struggle.
i will acknowledge I’m hungry and then refuse to make food until i fall from my chair 30 minutes later
Should be “−1 HP” or “1 Damage”, not “−1 Damage”. That would be healing.
No, it’s a bulleted list of damage
- 1 damage - 1 damage - 1 damage
It’s just the Minecraft “getting hit” sound for me 😂
yesterday I had:
- 1 slice of leftover pizza
- 1 bowl of ice cream
- 2 pop tarts
today I am going to eat the equality of the mass of the sun
It’s easier to measure calories as averaged over 3-4 days I find.
Sometimes it just do be like that
Engineered staple foods in stock are a blessing with ADHD. Don’t even have to think about how much you need if meds took the appetite; they typically come in 500 kcal units.
I’m currently trying to get away from using them for 1 or 2 meals per day, but it’s a great fallback option.
Also, how often did I NOT do a nice trip idea because buying, making and packing food seemed overwhelming?
Soylent saved my butt when I went with Partner to visit the pseudo-in-laws and they swore they could feed me. We told them I was vegetarian. (Technically I’m not but it’s complicated and vegetarian is fine).
Dinner was a pile of lettuce with some cherry tomatoes. Everyone else got burgers on buns with cheese, green beans, and baked beans. There was bacon mixed into both the green beans and the baked beans.
Anyways, Soylent came in clutch. We also cut that trip short and haven’t visited again.
I wish I could just grab Calorie Mate at Walmart… 😔
Time to eat peanut butter from the jar and continue reading the Wikipedia entry for the Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Granted, this feeling’s unappealing.
I read a lot about ADHD people reading random shit on Wikipedia or wherever. Do you retain the information you ingest and all become walking encyclopedias yourselves?
There’s a reason you don’t want to be on someone else’s team if we’re going to play trivia 😈I remember so much stuff, as long as it’s not math, I can’t do math.
No, you forget everything the next day.
it depends. I throw a D20 everytime i learn anything. On 13 or more, i memorize it for life. Else, i forgot it in 1d4 hours
Next day? Wow! Hey everyone, come look at this person with a functioning long-term memory!
Everyone’s different. I remember a lot, and so clean up on trivia night.
Even if you aren’t the type to remember, you’re still learning. The details aren’t always as important as the concepts.
My nickname among my friends is derived from the word wikipedia, because I often have read something related to the conversational topic.
Doesn’t mean I remember everything, or anything for that matter. Most of the time I just remember that I read about it somewhere, and quickly read up again, barring a handful of topics (that have been hyperfixations in the past).
I keep a summary. Not always complete, or exact, but the general idea.
Unless it is entirely useless IRL, such as nerd lore. Then i get to keep more info
Possibly. No. Maybe. Yes. I can’t control what my brain retains (except in rare circumstances) and consequently it’s filled with a lot of useless bullshit that nobody cares about, bits and pieces of everything I ever read.
Had a phase where I read a bunch of Wiki articles about Marvel comics. This caused a few awkward moments where I’d throw in a random comment in a conversation I was overhearing but then wasn’t able to follow it up with anything substantial with my comic book expert interlocutors who’d actually read what they were talking about.
Ha, I can’t even finish writing a comment before forgetting what I was…
Fuck, what was I going to say?
only when asked.
Yes, to our cost.
Every time I see one of these adhd memes it describes me so perfectly. I’m sure that doesn’t mean anything though, and by the time I get around to making an actual doctor appointment about it I’ll have forgotten that I was going to ask about it.
Have you considered making a list /s
(But seriously, I have a sheet I take in to the doctor with my goals for the appointment, things to bring up, and citations if I’m asking something weird. I also list my name, allergies, and who I’m meeting with. I’ll have 2 copies, one for me and one for the doctor.)
I make lists for everything. And then I forget about them or lose them.
For appointments I put stuff like this right in the notes section for the calendar event in my calendar app. Bets are off for anything else though.
I need to stock up for the damage time, but it’s the same situation as the “just need to get started” meme
I should have been born an ungulate, with my penchant for grazing
Would a container of “emergency food” help? That is, food that takes little to no effort to make. I’m German, so I’m raised to eat a slice of bread with a slice of sausage on top as the default meal. I take it this is not a thing in the US. How about making sure you’re always stocked on cereal?
I do that with cheese, sausage, and crackers. Like a low effort charcuterie board. But I get tired of it pretty frequently, which makes it entirely unappetizing to me. Like I’d rather not eat and just be hungry if that’s my only option. So I have to rotate.
Right now my easy meal is canned soup.
Right! I forgot about ramen or canned stews!
the problem is that the emergency food is the low effort food and so i will always eat that first and then i have run out of emergency food
Fellow German here, slice of cheese on bread is the go-to. Microwaved, if I’m feeling spicy.
Trail mix is emergency food, but it has to be the right kind. Not spicy, I’m overstimulated already, hot peppers would be a screen door on a submarine.
