Hey, this is a days old post, stop reporting it and discussing whether or not the use of the n-word is okay or not. That is troll bait and I get why you respond once, but stop after that. The people refuting the word were pretty good under the circumstances, so I’m not locking it yet. If I removed your comment, it’s so the troll baiting won’t work anymore on anyone else.

Edit: Stop reporting the actual post, not the comments in it. I’ll go over everything. Always report the kind of crap going on inside the comment section. Sorry about that, I missed a lot.

    I guess we’re all a little racist.

Cope. Racists simply can’t imagine that being a hateful bigot makes them a bad person- so they HAVE to pretend that everyone feels that way but we just keep it quiet.

I had a co-worker who insisted he wasn’t racist, but he did hate ‘Sand-Nwords’. He said “Everybody hates one group or another”. He refused to believe that I hate literally no one in the world because of their race.

This was a derogatory term for middle easterners that cropped up (to my awareness, anyway, and I don’t care to go searching around to fact check myself on this point) in the xenophobia following 9/11.

You’re going to have to research that on your own. I didn’t ask for clarification and I don’t care to know what he meant tbh.

Seems like it would be for anyone brown tbh. Y’no, cause racists think all brown people lve in the desert.

    • Yeah, this is straight up “I have a black friend” and citing the wealthy basketball payer as worthy is “You’re one of the good ones.”

Bet if questioned publicly he’d have said he’s not racist.

He tried to walk it back after facing the consequences- who knows if it was genuine or an attempt to salvage his reputation.

“Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it. This is not who I am. I believe very strongly that every person in the world is important and should not be treated differently based on race, gender, orientation, religious beliefs or otherwise. I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs.”

Isn’t it so crazy how these people talking casually among their friends is never “who they are” but them walking it back via a publicist because it hurt them is who they actually are?

Just sooo crazy! And the one and only time they’re talking like “someone they’re not” someone happens to be recording it and it’s bad for their career! The world sure is a crazy place

Yeah weird that. The only reason I gave him the slightest benefit of the doubt was because it had been 8 years and people can change a lot in that amount of time. They usually don’t, but it’s possible. I guess a generic publicist written apology is better than doubling down on your ignorance, but I’m almost certain it was simply to protect ‘the brand’.

It’s kind of fitting in a way that he turned out to be a chud. I was never huge into wrestling, but there was a couple of years there between 4 and 6th grade that I would watch it, Hulk was my favorite because he had a positive message and seemed to be a decent guy. His theme song “I am a real American, fight for the rights of every man” resonated with me because I was young enough and ignorant enough to believe in ‘America’ and that it was founded on everyone being equal. As I got better informed and saw that this country was built upon White Men being equal, and everyone else is treated as a subhuman- I realized that the American Dream was a lie and this country was built upon white supremacy, slavery, and genocide. So to find out ol dude was ‘A real American’ after all is just icing on the ironic cake.

Never look up to anyone. Be your own hero.

ventura dint do any favors either, basically he said f you guys your on your own if you dint unionize with me, he only said it because had a backup plan, a union with sag-aftra, so it basically abandoned them, dint care about thier potential fall out. the wrestlers dint have much power it at the time, if the other wrestlers were also actors, they wouldve unionize, most of them were scared to do so.

he also has a history with PETER THIEL too, because thiel bankrolled hogans lawsuit against Gawker, as part of a vendetta for reporting on his business pratices, plus him being gay.

Losing Gawker was a big turning point for the public having a consistent satirical biting rag news site. Looking back, losing gawker probably contributed to the enshitification of Reddit too with the influx of Gawker commenters. We may never have been able to avoid the current reality but if Gawker was around still it would have certainly been different.

Yeah, after Ventura tried to get them to unionize and Hogan messed it all up, Ventura bailed. He was already unionized as an actor before approaching them, but saw the obvious benefits of a union and wanted them to have the same. If he was really their friend, he would’ve fought harder for them to have what he had.

oh yea, i place some of the blame on ventura too, hes the one who started it, he shouldve finished it instead he just ditched them, he was only able to speak from him position, because already was an actor with sag aftra. he shoulve known a lowly wrestler isnt going to have many negotiating positions in a union formation.

I forgot who was trying to organize the union (Ventura??), but Hogan found out and ran to Vince McMahon.

I know next to nothing about this topic but heard in an interview with Ventura, that Hogan was the only one of that league (or how they call it) who had already signed a fat contract with a higher league and that the unionization would have put that into risk of not proceeding.

Edit: Found the interview. It was a bit different than I remembered but not much.

Gawker was found civilly liable for defamation after publishing details from Hulk Hogan’s sex tape. They also published a recording of the quote in the OP, I don’t remember if it was from that tape or a separate incident. The size of the judgement against them basically bankrupted the company.

BS clickbait is, for better or worse, still completely legal.

And it was said privately that somebody filmed. Doesn’t make it right but neither is releasing a private tape.

Conservatives would do well to behave like everything they say in private will be published. If they can’t be good people out of empathy they can be good people out of fear.

In most states if you’re party to a conversation you have a right to record it and share it with others if you’d like. Federally it’s legal too, including phone calls. Some states do restrict recording without informing all parties, but most don’t as it’s important means of protecting yourself sometimes.

I emphasized “if you’re party” above because it’s an important distinction. In many situations you cannot record the conversation of others if you’re not an active participant, though there are exceptions for things said/done in public and in/on your property.

        • I just don’t understand how private sex tapes get leaked. First of all, do people really regularly film themselves having sex? Also, surely only the couple would have a copy, and surely you’d trust someone before making such a tape, no?

I’m just amazed each time it happens.
