I love searching for restaurants which serve less commonly seen foreign cuisines.
Examples:
Uzbegim Restaurant - Uzbek food https://goo.gl/maps/zemrxRwdg3MGRpgr8
Restaurant Mandala - Nepali food https://goo.gl/maps/73k283tLBAfUboFE7
Restoran MonaKay - African food https://goo.gl/maps/ardAQLihosyk5ktw7 (I hate to say ‘African’ generically, unfortunately I am not familiar with specifically what kind of African food this is.)
Tong Mo bakar - not a restaurant but a stall which sells ‘tong mo’, a grilled Cambodian sausage https://goo.gl/maps/TPkVmvP26p2kZtr8A
Zayyar Restoran - Myanmarese food https://goo.gl/maps/Jk4FdnyDnMDL38r26
Unfortunately, all these places are in the Klang Valley as that’s where I’m based. If you know any unusual specialties in other states, do share!
Psst Monakay is West African (if the reviews are legit talking about Nigerian food)
Upvoted and commented for visibility. Hope to see more, and I’m definitely studying all these places listed here.
Halab KL @ Bukit Bintang - Syrian-style middle eastern cuisine, halal
Al Amber @ Bangsar South - northern Chinese Muslim cuisine hailing from Ningxia, halal
Xun Qin Ji @ Puchong - Xi’an cuisine, somewhat harder to find that the usual Sichuan restaurant that’s everywhere in KL, non-halal
Hansang @ 1U/Pavilion KL - Korean restaurants are everywhere, but this one is run by Koreans and relatively affordable, non-halal
I noticed quite a few Sri Lankan restaurants lately but haven’t given them a try.
There are a lot of Yemeni restaurants, I usually just go to the one near my place but there are better ones.
Oh ya, how come I forgot:
Crispy Pork Noodles Soup @ Jalan Sultan KL - Known for their Balinese Babi Guling but also sells various Filipino dishes. Non halal.
