I think this is a terrible thing!

I live in a country nearby and all this will do is raise for cost of rides it will also leave the poor unable to book rides.

My wife and I have a decent income compared to the average person who lives here.

If she can’t get to work because she can’t book a ride, we are happy to pay more.

It can take upwards of 2 hours to book a ride home during rush hour. Well, we would happily bid high to not have to wait/walk.

But the everyday person can’t do this, so I think it’s a terrible system to implement.

True. I used GrabCar once every year on average, but on my most recent ride a few drivers refused to fetch me, saying the fare wasn’t fair. I was crossing into Penang Island from Butterworth at night.

Eventually I got a ride and tipped the driver more than I usually would. I felt that is better than having this bidding system.

Sometimes we get riders cancel our ride because they have to drive more than a few blocks.

We regularly need to send a message saying we will tip x amount if they don’t cancel.

        It’s pretty annoying.

With that being said, taxis are supposed to have standard rates, but they always made you negotiate during rush hour or just refuse rides.

Once I had to pay like 5-6x the rate of grab to get a taxi to take me home.
