#MakanApaToday? Durian! I mistakenly thought dad didn’t have enough so I bought some more and now we have a “durian runtuh” situation 🤣

My family likes to eat durian with rice soaked in santan (coconut milk). I have failed my Peranakan heritage by hating the idea of rice + santan, insists my mum.

It’s OK, I am a purist - I prefer my durian untouched by anything but my hands 🤭

not lunch but i had Filipino food for dinner yesterday, had adobo, sisig, pork steak and their pork belly. Tasted like shit, it’s like they’re going out of their way to avoid using spice and added a ton of sugar and salt. Thought I went to a bad joint but it was jam packed full of Filipino people in this dead part of town so i assume it tasted at least average.

I can see why Filipino food is not popular in terms of cultural influence despite being a country of 110 million people. Everything’s either super salty, fatty and super sweet. There’s a reason why they only talk about Jollibee.
