I checked and yours is random, so it’s just the type of post that attract minor amount of downvote. Just ignore it.

Eh. Looking through your post and comment history, you don’t have a lot of stuff excessively downvoted. This post has a few downvotes (probably people being funny given the topic) and one you deleted that apparently you struck a nerve with.

I’d chalk it up to “shit happens”. You’re not always going to be agreeable. It’s okay. I’ve seen some of your interactions in the lemmyapps community, and while I personally may not agree with you all the time, I don’t find it offensive enough to downvote.

    You’re doing fine. ☺️

you can check out who is doing the downvoting on mbin/kbin instances. its public.

i checked a few and it always seems pretty random

Kbin doesn’t federate downvotes from other instances though, so you can only see the downvotes made through Kbin. I believe for Lemmy, the only way to see the identities of voters is through direct database access. Maybe some third party apps show that though?

I figured it was a conscious design decision. Maybe it just doesn’t work, idk. It’s kind of nice not seeing them though I am curious sometimes and will look on other instances.

On KBin I believe that it is (or at least was a bug that became a feature). There have been posts about it strongly urging Ernest not to change it and he’s said he’ll open it up to discussion before making major changes to it, if my recollection is accurate.

The vote federation is different though, not sure if it’s just downvotes that don’t transfer but you can be downvoted on lemmy and it may not show on Kbin. Looking at OP’s account here doesn’t show a pattern of being downvoted, for instance.

However, as they don’t federate downvotes (at least kbin.social doesn’t) you can only see local ones so this wouldn’t help OP.

Downvotes dont even matter… Sure they push down your comments but if you write good stuff, others will upvote it.

limit voting to communities someone is subscribed to

That sounds great. Might also protect against people upvoting posts that don’t actually fit the community

Well us admins can see every upvote/downvote now so if there’s posts in question we can compare those and figure that out fairly quickly.

I was wondering the same, doubt that we both pissed someone off. But who knows?

I have definetly pissed people off but everytime i post within 5 minute there is a down vote and some things i post are not even controversial .

Well I have noticed it with my own and comments from others. Like someone saying something completely friendly/neutral and there is always that 1 downvote. Only 1.

I don’t really mind the downvotes themselves, but if people disagree with something, please say it! This is why we are here. To discuss things (in a friendly manner). I can’t learn anything new or think out of the box if people just downvote and leave.

Some people use apps which hide posts they have interacted with. A downvote counts as interaction so people in turn then liberally downvote nearly everything. Yes it’s unhelpful and dumb. Solution, use kbin and at least you can see who downvoted you! (Except I don’t think downvotes are federated).

(for the outsiders: the joke is that hexbear has no downvotes (they are disabled (the downvotes)); hexberians can’t downvote and downvotes don’t affect the total score of a comment from hexbear’s view)
