There are people that find these things attractive… But I’m not sure you want to be with them

One of my favorite comments I’ve ever seen on big social media was “I like a man who drives a big truck, it shows me they have money!”

Which, oh sweetie no. It shows a high probability they dont handle money well, because that thing probably has a massive loan, with some probable godawful terms attached. Most people who are doing well don’t spend their money on things that lose half their value as soon as you drive it off the lot. Now if they’re a literal millionaire, maybe, but the venn diagram there is a sliver of people.

Unfortunately there are A LOT of people that find them attractive. A stunningly high amount. I would almost guarantee that it’s more of a branding/“all hail God emperor musk” obsession for most but the point remains. There are people out there that legitimately think it looks very cool and beautiful tho which boggles my mind but whatevs.

In general I like the approach to make such a futuristic looking thing with sharp angles etc. „like from a sci-fi movie“. The problem is the thing only looks cool in marketing brochures with the right lighting and photoshopping.

In real life the thing looks goofy AF, like a joke. Like it’s ordered from TEMU.

It’s immediately obvious that it’s just a janky, non-solid tin cover over a normal car body.

I saw one the other day in the wild that had a huge orange “CYBERTRUCK” sticker in faux-graffiti lettering across the back. In case anyone had any doubts!

Saw one park at the grocery store the other day. The passenger got out and used the bottom of his shirt to avoid touching the door as he closed. Imagine having to teach your friends and family not to touch your car or it’ll rust.

Heard they also cut your hand too, so probably due to that reason as well.

Imagine having to teach your friends and family not to touch your car or it’ll rust.

They’re doing that to avoid leaving greasy fingerprints on the doors. If it had door handles this wouldn’t be an issue.

Ton of people spreading misinformation about Cybertrucks rusting. It’s not the body panels that rust, it’s the iron particles in the air (called fallout) that land on the panels and react with the stainless steel causing rust to form but it’s just surface contamination that’s cleans off easily. It has to be cleaned from other vehicles as well but it doesn’t form rust because it doesn’t contact the metal panels due to paint and clearcoat. It’s not a non-issue but claiming water makes it rust is dishonest. It’s not water that’s the issue. It’s iron, mostly from brake dust.

I prefer my cars small. Like really really small. A Swiss company made a car called the Microlino and it just looks like an old BMW Isetta. I’ll definitely get that car one day. It just looks stupid as heck! That’s “I don’t care about you and just do my own shit” in consumerism!
