The great thing about comic book and videogame “inspired” movies if they come pre-written. This doesn’t sound like they were ever serious about making a series off the IP, I suspect a gacha game will be released from Amazon games.
That’s also why they always suck. Storytelling in a video game works a lot differently than in film. For example you can skip a lot of exposition since the player already embodies the main character rather than having to build them up. Also a lot of game protagonists work the best as an empty shell into which the players can project themselves, unlike in movies.
I’m convinced the only reason Arcane was good was because the game it’s based on doesn’t really have a story, just lore.

It’s a good thing because it would’ve been a shitshow anyway. With the way that ‘masculinity’ is being wielded these days, regardless of how attractive the actor was, the likes of Asmongold (who looks like a fucking humanoid rat himself) and PissDrinker and whoever else would’ve been making videos about her boobs being too small or having hair on her arms or being the wrong colour or not acting enough like a lady or some shit. And the ‘alpha’ hordes of mouth breathers would’ve been throwing them their money and circlejerking themselves into a frenzy over it.
And that poor actor that thought she had a cool role and opportunity in the acting world would’ve been getting death and rape threats and told that she’s actually a man and all sorts of other abuse.
We don’t deserve a Tomb Raider series. What we deserve an entire series of Minecraft movies where the humans can go and throw their popcorn around like apes throwing shit, and Jack Black acting as Jack Black can sing us nonsensical songs. Because that’s about the level of brain rot and general intelligence that the world is at right now. We deserve a Skibidi Toilet franchise.

Skibidi evolved a lot as a series. It went really far from original brainrot into anime style mech battles. Shitting on Skibidi because of first episodes is a really ignorant take.

Get a good writer, and you can make a good movie or TV show out of anything.
The caveat being that there are very few good writers out there.
And even less who would be willing to work on something like this.
I think I’ll wait for a better source than the Daily Mail before I consider it dead.
