Extremely wealthy few who control everything. No more payment, you’ll simply be a serf. No more owning, you won’t own anything, all in your life will be leased.
In that world, you have kids because your told to, or else. Individual freedom? What are you a lord? A feudal master?
I doubt anyone will have to be told to have kids. Putting people in misery will leave them grasping at anything to have a moment’s respite of pleasure. Right now they can do that with hobbies and ‘toys.’ In the future? Only the embrace of your fellow miserable hopefully-only-half-kin will be an option, and kids will start popping out.
