    Not female, but from experience:

    • Male female ratio varies greatly with speciality. Chem eng, biotech etc tend to have more women than electrical & electronics for example

    • You use brain to study. Having balls or boobs don’t make any difference.

    • Engineering job is fun and interesting! But management bullshit will make your life miserable. Misery is the rule, not exception.

    • Most female engineers tend to drift towards non design roles with time. Lots of them in quality control, production planning, conformance lab, and support roles in design departments like liaising with suppliers, contractors, project management etc.

    • STEM field is probably THE most gender equal field out there. But this has both pros and cons. Nobody is going to treat you like a queen, nor will people let you be one. Of course there will be some concessions due to physiological difference, but that’s all the privilege women can get. If you can’t pull your own weight and/or unwilling to fight in the trenches with the boys, expect getting ostracized by the whole team, maybe worse.
