Wait we have a virtual café? :o
Yup, open to all Lemmy visitors 24-7
Why do ppl keep forgetting kbin instances… Y’all act like ppl on mastodon
I am ignorant of the difference, what is the difference?
It’s got microblogging feature enabled. In most other functionality that Lemmy users understand those instances have them too. But the microblogging does mean it can be easier to follow microbloggers like those on mastodon instances
Hej! Welcome to
IkeaCafe where we talk nonsense here!
Why am I getting so many ads for alcohol on FB? I don’t drink lol
Also found out what the rattling noise in my car is from, it rattles every time I’m in D in a traffic light. Turns out it is the trunk, tried adjusting the lock and re-tourqe the hinges but nothing works, I guess new hinges are needed. Shit has been driving me crazy for months.
Bro my car boot area is rattling as well, I thought it was the number plate and I insulated it but it didn’t do anything.
Driving me nuts….
Is it just me or Lemmy is ultra far left, even more left than reddit. Saw so many pro communist posts on All.
Shh… don’t tell Fahmi fadzil.
Komunis?! HARAM!!!
Yes this dev team has a well-earned reputation as tankies (as in to say pro-russia beyond everything reasonable)
The lemmy developers are mainly composed of Marxist-Leninists that’s why
Got attacked a few days ago for talking about social democracy and proper taxation to fund social programs.
Apparently that’s still too capitalistic for them 🥲
Good afternoon, had a very intense Saturday night, go right up to morning, sleep like a log and just woke up at quarter past 3. Howdy
I’m waist deep into A History of Selangor book right now and apparently the American miners I mentioned a few days ago did start a tin mining operation near Reko (near Kajang) using Orang Hitam labourers. 🤔
as in African-Americans?
I suppose so, yes.
Could be Orang Asli as well? Africans seem like such a ways away but fascinating fact regardless
This was a recounting from the local Malays, who always knew the orang aslis by other, more specific, names. Even the book clarified them as Blacks.
I forgot to date the story but it’s from the 1840s.
Anyway, here’s a full excerpt:
sike, it’s actually orang minyak
Could be? Imagine being the American blacks, with their mixed christian-voodoo-west african beliefs, transplanted for labour to a foreign land with no b*tches. What do? 🤔
My my my what an interesting piece of history indeed!
Oh nice, since that’s my hood maybe I should investigate a bit.
