The rapper formerly known as Kanye West directed viewers to his website, where the homepage was selling a T-shirt with a swastika on the front.

And what’s sad is that he’s wealthier than everyone that uses lemmy, combined.

Why the fuck does good shit always happen to bad people, and good people always get shit on?

Money does, however, buy security. Money would solve all of my worst problems and make the other ones easier to handle. We don’t need a lot, but sure as hell need more than we have now and people like him don’t deserve a damn fucking cent(besides any universal social programs because that’s what universal means and I ain’t gunna be that guy).

You don’t get wealthy if you’re good, because it takes a certain amount of greed and materialism

Probably not a popular opinion around here, but this is actually one of the rare cases where he is (was) extremely talented at his main thing (producing). That doesn’t mean he deserves that disproportionate amount of wealth, but he’s contributed more to culture than elon ever could.

This is basically undeniable, but what really makes me sad is the artists who don’t seem to be Nazis or even right wing but still support this dude and stand up for him because he’s been so influential on many of them.

What’s insane is that FOX allowed this commercial to air in the first place. I’m sure someone at FOX will say “We had no idea he would put this on his site”, which we’ll all know is bullshit because they scrutinize the fuck out of every Super Bowl ad before it gets to air. There is a 0% chance that nobody knew about this beforehand.

There is absolutely no excuse for this u/Remember_the_tooth. This is wildly inappropriate and completely out of date. There is absolutely NO excuse generative AI and MLL can’t remake this for a sequel using actual Kekius and Trumpf for the modern times.

That’s a really good point. Why rehash Mel Brooks’ old content when we have actual live NeoNazis on our front porch. Kudos to you for your insight. We could probably just livestream a rally.

I was on his website yesterday and there was no swastika then. There was “white lives matter” and a bunch of nazi-adjacent symbols with plausible deniability but no outright swastika.

The commercial itself didn’t feature the shirt or any nazi imagery. It was a 30 second clip of Kanye in a dentists chair telling you to visit his website. It only aired in LA.

      I don’t understand this timeline.

ADL easily calls out this symbol as one “adopted by Hitler as the primary emblem of the Nazis,” but can’t say the same about an extremely recognizable salute also adopted by Hitler as a primary symbol of the Nazis.

The ADL is a zionist organization that was literally founded to protect a pedophile and child rapist who was, with no relevance to those actions whatsoever, Jewish. Do not take any of their “stances” as being for social justice.

It’s shopify, which requires an account to report. So if anyone has a shopify account, please do the needful. Can probably be considered a threat of violence or terrorist organization, or both.

        I have an account.

When I tried to report it as terrorist organization, the form gets stuck in a redirect loop. It’s broken.

Threat of violence worked but I needed to provide my full name, phone number and address which felt pretty shit.

I want to but I think the Thunder filter feature is a bit aggressive. I blocked the word “US” but I realized a long while later that it was also blocking all links to my instance sh.itjust.works. I’m afraid I’ll lose all titles with “yesterday” or “yes”.

I’m working on my own lemmy app. It would be cool to have settings for your filters like containers, starts with, ends with, word, part of word. But I also need to strike a balance between average users and power users. Maybe an advanced filter setting would be cool.

I would assume that the filters are case insensitive and filter whitespace but I don’t know for sure. I should test some stuff out.

One cannot help but notice that NBC is directing viewers to said website rather than other websites that are not owned by Kanye West and are not selling swastika T-shirts, which probably have a harder time getting potential customers to show up. I see that they also have pricing information and product photos.

One imagines that social media and similar probably also is directing a lot of people there.

This does suggest that West might be onto something.

In a world where people and organizations didn’t discuss and link to the product, he might not have the same incentive.

Reminds me of an article posted on Lemmy earlier about how there was a call for a bilingual sign to be removed in London. The article was actually about Elon Musk backing this move, about this sign, the controversy, etc. in reality he responded to some dude complaining about it with a reply saying “yes”. Three letters, bam, several journalists are writing articles and people are posting your opinion all over the internet.

Sad to see that the dude’s in this state. He clearly needs psychiatric care, not a platform from which to yell his absurdities.
